Free range organic pork available

We have always had animals here on the farm at Crowtrees, however we now have 12 beautiful pigs. Therefore we also now stock a large range of free range organic pork. This includes the following:

Bacon £3.50 per 500g pack,

Thick Plain sausage £4.00 per 500g pack,

Thick pork and apple sausage £5.00 per 500g pack,

Thick pork and leek sausage £5.00 per pack,

Gammon steaks - Price to be confirmed

Leg joints (various sizes)

Shoulder joints (various sizes)

Christmas Gammon joints (butchered to size)

Pork Chops £6.00 per pack (3 in each pack)

We have provided a little walk so that you can see our lovely pigs in their pens enjoying their outdoor life next to the river.

We understand that our free range pork may upset some however surly, these animals are better off spending their days in the beautiful dappled sunlight at the end of our garden, as apposed to in intensive pig units and never seeing sunlight? With them also living purely outdoors, their meat is much tastier and flavoursome than normal supermarket pork.

No Price Changes for 2022!

Despite a huge increase in our outgoings this year, we have made the decision to keep the prices the same for 2022, as we know it is going to be a hard year financially for everyone.

Our electric prices have shot up, our fuel bill for the mowers has shot up, our water costs have shot up and our overall expenditure has significantly increased, however we don’t enjoy putting our prices up as we appreciate everyone is struggling just the same as us. Caravanning holidays are one of the most affordable, fun, family orientated holidays so we don’t want to put people off enjoying our beautiful Staffordshire moorlands countryside. We look forward to welcoming lots of happy caravanners new and old and hope for a fantastic year ahead.

PRICE UPDATES... WE ARE SORRY

As everyone knows and understands, all businesses are struggling through these tough times and only a small few will come out of the other side sadly. We aim to be one of these businesses but unfortunately things have to change to allow us to keep going and make more improvements. For the eagle eyed ones of you, you may have seen the announcement on the website before the new year. We have made the tough but justified decision to increase our prices from the 1st of January 2021. Our new prices will be £20 per night per caravan plus £3 a night per awning.

Coronavirus isn’t the only thing to blame, the rise in electric prices are also a large contributor. We have been doing our research and found that a lot of people heat their awnings when staying with us, which is costing a lot for us!!

We are really sorry guys and really hope that everyone understands. We aren’t doing this to be greedy, we are doing this to keep going.

Closed until further notice... Again

Well today is a bad day… After all of our hard work over last year, we have sadly been put into Tier 3, meaning that we cannot open as hoped. This is absolutely heartbreaking for us and these next few months are going to be really hard with hardly any government support. We hope that we come out smiling on the other side, but for now, we just hope that things pick up for us and other small businesses.

Closed... again!

So everyone...

From Wednesday the 4th of November, we will be locking the gate on the caravan site, turning all power off to the pitches and cleaning the toilets for the last time. We will be shut until further notice.

Thank you so much to everyone for your incredible support these last few months. Since opening on the 4th of July, we have never ever been so busy! It’s been truly heart warming. We wish everyone a safe winter and we will update you when we know when we can open up again.

Please don’t worry about messaging us or ringing us to cancel your booking, as all bookings from now until the 2nd of December are CANCELLED.

On a happier note, pitches until Wednesday morning are flying out, so if you fancy one last get away, give us a ring. Tuesday night will be our last night for booking.

All our love,

The small army at Crowtrees.

Everything within walking distance...

We are incredibly lucky to have our caravan site in such a beautiful, yet convenient place of the country. We are situated just on the edge of the village of Waterhouses in the Staffordshire Moorlands. We have 3 brilliant pubs all within a 15-minute walk.

The Ye Olde Crown Inn- The Crown is just an easy 5-minute walk from the site and has lots to offer. There is nearly every drink you could imagine, including lots of lovely gins!! The food is lovely too but make sure you book a table as they get very busy!

The Red Lion Inn- The Red Lion is set in beautiful countryside and just a 10-minute walk from the site. Steph and her team offer an extensive menu catering for everyone. They also have a play area next to the pub, so it is great for families.  Again, make sure you book a table to save missing out!

The Yew Tree Inn- The Yew Tree in is just a 15-minute walk from the site and all off road so great for the dogs. Take a step back in time and enjoy a pint in this unique pub. Alan the landlord has been there for over 50 years so there is a lot to see!!

Riverside Cafe- We are also blessed to have a chip shop nearly at the end of the drive! Just a 2-minute walk away, they offer a great menu for either takeaway or eat in. Again, another family run local business!

Manifold Stores- We may be 7 miles from Leek and Ashbourne but we have our own village shop. Edwin and his team of staff run the local shop, which sells everything from Gin to frozen foods to toiletries! This is just next to the Crown Inn so a 5-minute walk away!

If you choose to come and stay with us here at Crowtrees Caravan Site, we would love it if you helped us support the local businesses!

Lets get ready to enjoy summer!

As you may have already seen on the news, the government has given the go ahead for caravan sites in England to open on Saturday the 4th of July! This is super exciting news for us as the last few months have been hard, but we are super pleased to be welcoming everyone back to Crowtrees Caravan site on the 4th of July. We are still waiting for guidance on how things will need to be changed but please see below what we know:

  • Social distancing will need to be adhered to at 1M

  • The toilet and shower block will be open, but we will have a new strict cleaning regime, which means we may need to close the toilet and showers to do deep clean often.

  • STRICTLY PAYMENT ON ARRIVAL OR NO ENTRY. This can be done by either contactless payment or cash.

  • We have hand sanitiser at every touch point around the caravan site including at the entry gate, at the toilet and shower blocks, at the shared taps, at the chemical emptying point and at the bins.

  • Pre booking only

We are also super excited that the glamping caravans and camping barns are also opening on the 4th of July. These will have a deep clean as usual after every guest ensuring all touch points are disinfected.

Both pubs in the village are also opening on the 4th of July, so if you are thinking of eating out whilst you stay with us, make sure you book a table! The chip shop and village shop also remain open.

We are busy planning away preparing the facilities, making signs, cleaning, taking hundreds of bookings every day, mowing grass, planting more beautiful trees and flowers, and generally making sure that everything is perfect to welcome out guests. Please bare with us through this busy time and we only know as much as you! Unfortunately, we do not have any ‘inside’ information or any more idea to how things will change but we are doing everything we can to keep everyone safe but also to make sure everyone is having fun.

There is light at the end of the tunnel...

On the 10th of May 2020, the government made an announcement regarding lockdown in the UK. During this speech, our PM, Boris Johnson, set out a ‘plan’ of how we are going to exit lockdown, which including some information to say, as long as this virus does not accelerate, we may be able to open Crowtrees Caravan Site to the public in the near future. Therefore, we are now taking bookings from the 1st of July 2020 onwards. Please ring on 01538 074 or 07973 702608 to book a pitch.

We are not taking deposits until we are 100% sure of when we can reopen.

During this unsure period, we have been working hard to think of ways that we can protect all of our valued customers. This include gloves and hand sanitiser at all of the ‘touch points’ on the caravan site such as the gate code pads, chemical emptying point, all taps and any door handles that may be used. We are unsure of the rules around the shared toilet and shower block, but we do have plans to make them safer and cleaner from the virus.

When we are sure we can definitely open, we will be taking full payments when booking, then sending through an invoice via email with all details on so that you do not have to come into contact with us at any point.

Please bear with us at this very confusing time as we do not know any more than you do!

Many thanks and safe stay!

Craig, Ruth, Charlie and Luke

Coronavirus...

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE...
During this very confusing and scary time for everyone, we just want to make everyone aware of a few things about what’s happening at Crowtrees Caravan site.

1) Although we now have the card machine up and running, we are postponing taking 50% deposits. We are expecting and experiencing many cancellations so please just ring us if you are not coming for you holiday, and we will cancel you out on the book.

2) We have searched high and low but we have managed to get hold of a reliable source of hand sanitiser! This will be screwed down in boxes at every touch point, such as the keypads when entered, the toilets, the showers, the information room etc.

3) WE ARE CURRENTLY STAYING OPEN UNTIL WE ARE FORCED TO CLOSE. We feel that given the situation throughout the country, everyone needs a holiday. A caravaning holiday is a great way to isolate, as you are not in any contact with other people. You are 3 metres, if not more, away from any other caravan and you can still enjoy the spring weather and beautiful countryside.

Please do support local businesses if you can as this is a very daunting situations for us and many other businesses. We are hoping to come out of this stronger but times are very uncertain at the moment.

We hope everyone understands how hard we are trying.

Craig, Ruth, Charlie and Luke x

We are leaving the dark ages behind!

After lots of research we have made the decision to expand the business by getting a card machine! So, from Monday the 9th of March we will be accepting card payments and we will also be taking a 50% deposit. However, we will be getting a little stricter with payments on arrival or no entry. We still accept cash payments on arrival. We hope this will help everyone out and look forward to growing as a small business.

2020! Lets make it a good one!

The bookings are now flying in for summer 2020 with Easter and both May bank holiday weekends fully booked already! We only have a couple of pitches left for August bank holiday and we are completely jam packed full for New year 2020-2021!!

The vintage caravans and camping barns are also filling up fast for summer, especially during the summer holidays.

After a crazy 2019, we have added an additional 4 grass pitches with electric and water. These will be the same price as the hard standing pitches at £17 per night and are already proving very popular so please state is you would like a grass pitch when booking.

Thank you to everyone who has been and stayed with us, without all of you supporting the caravan site, none of this would have been possible. We look forward to welcoming everyone in 2020 and lets hope we see some warm British sun!

We do listen to our guests...

During an extremely busy summer period, we have noticed and heard from a couple of guests that we need more facilities, therefore we are just in the process of building a new shower block!! This will have 6 individual large sized showers with underfloor heating so that they stay nice and toasty. We are then going to convert the male and female showers into extra toilets. This will mean that there will be 3 female toilets, 3 male toilets, a disabled shower and toilet then an additional 6 unisex showers so there will be plenty of room for everyone.

We are hoping to have this all completed by the end of November at the latest.

The site will not be affected during this time and we will not be changing the original toilets when we have guests staying.

Thank you to everyone for their feedback as we do listen and take note of everything so that we can improve in any way possible.

A Brillant summer

We have had the most fantastic summer here at Crowtrees. The caravan site has been busy all summer, being full nearly every weekend!! The glamping caravans have also been a huge hit this year with people coming from far and wide to stay in them. The camping barn has also seen a jam-packed summer, being popular with families sightseeing in the beautiful Peak District. Overall, it’s been a nonstop summer!!

A huge thank you to everyone that has been to us and supported us in our first real full summer with all 20 caravan pitches, glamping caravans and camping barn. We hope everyone has had a lovely time and that you come to stay with us again in 2020.

We already have a lot of bookings for next year with August Bank holiday and Easter being nearly full so get booking to avoid disappointment!!

Have a great rest of 2019 and see you all soon!!

Change in Price

Due to the cost of electricity and water, from the 1st of October 2019, we are putting a small increase on prices to £17 per night. This is for a fully serviced pitch on hard standing including any awnings/gazebos. We hope that everyone understands the reason for this increase, however, please be assured that the cost will not be going up anymore in the near future.

Thanks again,

Craig, Ruth, Charlie and Luke

Exciting Easter

Easter is one of the busiest times of the year for us here at Crowtrees Farm. The caravan site, camping barn and both vintage caravans were all fully booked up. Everyone seemed to enjoy their weekend away, but we love seeing what people got up to on Facebook or Google, so please feel free to leave a review so that we can improve even more. Easter is always a sell-out, but it booked up last Easter 2018 for Easter 2019 so if you’re thinking about going away next year, do not leave it too late! We are nearly booked up for August bank holiday now with only 1 pitch spare! Thank you once again to everyone for your ongoing support and we hope that the summer is kind to us all and brings wall to wall sunshine again.

January is nearly over...!

With what feels like, the longest, coldest January known to man, we can now look forward to the spring and summer months. Who is excited about those sunny evenings, away in your caravan, sat outside waiting for those burgers or vegetable kebabs to cook, with a glass of wine in your hand? We certainly are!! So why not book your trip away ready for summer, as we have lots of fully booked weekends already! Whether you have a caravan of our own or not, we have lots of accommodation options here at Crowtrees Caravan site. Dogs, Children and horses are also very welcome!!!

Christmas and New Year

Crowtrees Caravan Site is open all year round, so Christmas and New year tends to get fully booked up. We still currently have a few pitches spare over the festive period so to book please phone Craig on 07973 702608. New Year is very well celebrated in Waterhouses with every pub having something on. The famous Yew Tree in holds a large party, as well as the beautiful Red Lion pub and Ye Old Crown. All 3 pubs are within walking distance so why not bring 2019 with a great night?

We have 20 fully serviced pitches all on hard standing so even if the weather is not so nice, everywhere will still be clean and dry. Our price also stays at £15 per night all year around.

2019

With summer 2018 not far off ending, we are now taking bookings for 2019. We have already had several bookings for August Bank Holiday and Easter 2019 so to avoid dissapointment, give us a ring on 01538 308074 to book your pitch today.

May Madness!!

During May, it has been incredibly busy here at Crowtrees Caravan Site. The first May bank holiday provided to be a scorcher, with 30-degree temperatures, meaning everyone was out enjoying our beautiful countryside and local attractions, which was fantastic to see.

Our site has been tested to its limit in May for the first time, with only a few nights when we were not fully booked. We are very grateful to everyone that has been and stayed with us and would really appreciate it if you could take the time to give us some feedback on our Facebook page or Google page. We are always looking for ways to make the site even better and provide for all the family.

June, July and August are also looking very busy with only a couple of pitches left for the August Bank holiday, so to avoid disappointment, give us a ring on 01538 308074 or 07973 702608 to book your pitch.

Thanks again for everyone’s support.

Crowtrees Caravan site.

Excellent Easter

A fantastic Easter period here at Crowtrees Caravan site, with a full house for the first time. It was unfortunate that the weather was so inclement! But we thank everyone that made the best of it and made the most of the local attactions and amenties. The dog play area appeared to be a massive success and all facilities utilised. The hens unfortunatly were having a break from laying so appoligies for lack of fresh free range eggs!!

We hope everyone enjoyed their stay with us and hope to see everyone in the future.

Thanks,

Ruth, Craig and Charlie.
